FEATURED: TUM developed VOI Electric Scooter – Can VOI be a threat for auto rickshaws??
New Delhi: Urban transportation is going to take new heights with more and more excellent creative vehicles that are being developed by experts all over the world. There have been a number of new innovations in the automobile segment over past few years and now a brand new featured passenger transport vehicle is likely to be introduced to the world.
A team of German engineers have designed a two wheeled multipurpose vehicle that has been developed basically to be used as a passenger rickshaw in urban areas. A team of students from Technische Universitat Muenchen have developed the respective electric 2 wheeled vehicle along with Nayang Technological University of Singapore. They has stated that the respective vehicle has been designed for making the journey on city roads easier and comfortable in spite of the heavy traffic.
The respective concept vehicle has been exposed at the 3rd Taiwan International Electric Vehicle Show that was held recently. The vehicle consists of a cabinet on the front which will have glass windows for view. Passenger can comfortably sit in the respective cabinet and have a look at the road through the frontal glass and side windows. The driver sits on the aft of the vehicle that has been arranged on the back. All the controls to ride the vehicle are arranged on the back near the driver’s seat.
TUM has named the brand new passenger two wheeled vehicle as “VOI Electric Scooter”. As per the information, VOI electric scooter is capable of attaining speed of 40 kilometers per hour as maximum which is enough for having a ride in busy city traffic conditions. The vehicle is likely to get equipped with a 3kWh lithium ion battery that is capable of promising journey of around 60 – 80 kilometers per a full single charge.
We have to wait for one or two years more to see the vehicle entering Indian market. But there is o guarantee that VOI electric scooter is capable of becoming a replacement for traditional auto rickshaws in India.
