HRD Ministry Wants to Combine JEE Main and JEE Advance from 2015

HR Minister wants to conduct on common examination for JEE Main and JEE Advanced from 2015. Two separate counselling is defeating the purpose of central examination. So it is essential to prepare one merit list by conducting one common examination, says Thakur.

Delhi: HR Minister wants to conduct on common examination for JEE Main and JEE Advanced from 2015. Then it will be easy for all the engineering students to write one examination. JEE aspirant from Hyderabad, Vishwaas Kumar has stated that, it is a great step for the betterment of the student’s life and makes the process easy for the students. Two tier JEE system was launched in 2012. Main intension of this two tier system is to reduce the influence of coaching centres on the candidates for the top colleges and at the same time to make to the admission process easy.

Till now JEE main score were using by Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT’s), National Institute of Technology (NIT’s) and all Government funded technical schools. But to have admission in IIT’s and Indian School of Mines (ISM), candidates need to write JEE Advanced Examination. Top 1, 50,000 candidates of JEE Main examination are eligible to write JEE Advanced examination.

Counselling for this examination will start after the results announced of 12th class board examination. First IIT’s will conduct the counselling then counselling will be followed by NIT’s and other engineering colleges. Thakur, Higher Educational Secretary has stated that, this two separate counselling is defeating the purpose of central examination. So it is essential to prepare one merit list. In the last year 1.4 million students appeared for JEE Main examination out of which top 1, 50,000 students appeared for JEE Advanced examination. At undergraduate level, more than 9600 students were admitted at ISM and IIT’s and more than 25000 students got admission in top engineering colleges.
