Tata ‘Zest’ Diesel Spotted – Can it beat Honda Amaze, Maruti Swift Dzire, Hyundai Xcent and Chevrolet Sail?
Tata’s upcoming Zest is one of the most awaited models this year and we have to wait for few more months to check out the sedan. Spy snaps of the respective model are going viral over web within few hours after they get uploaded. Another test mule of the Zest Diesel has been spotted recently with some heavy camouflage on its body. Tata is hoping for a breakthrough in the compact sedan segment of the Indian market with the launch of the Zest.
The Indian automotive giant has revealed the Zest compact sedan for the first time at this year’s Delhi Auto Expo held at Greater Noida in the month of February. We could see the new sedan in show rooms by the end of this year most probably. The specifications of the sedan are teasing Indian buyers as Tata has decided to offer exclusive features which are never seen in a compact sedan with price tag cheaper than Rs. 10 lakhs before. Heavy competition in the Indian market is the main reason which is forcing automotive makers to opt for lowering prices and Tata is not exempted from the list.
As per the information, the upcoming Zest sedan will be offered both in petrol as well as in diesel versions in India. The petrol version of the model will be powered with a 1.2 litre Revotron engine which is being used for the first time. The respective engine is capable of generating around 85 PS power at the peak along with 140 Nm of torque. The diesel version of the model would get fitted with a 1.3 litre Multijet diesel engine made by Fiat. The respective engine is capable of generating around 90 PS power at the peak along with 200 Nm of torque. Both these variants are expected to get accompanied with Auto Manual Transmission gear box most probably.
Tata is expected to offer the petrol version of the Zest sedan for a starting price of Rs. 5 lakhs and the diesel version for a starting price of Rs. 6 lakhs mostly. The sedan has to be capable of beating down rival models such as Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, Chevrolet Sail, Hyundai Xcent, Nissan Sunny and Honda Amaze.
